Route 1 Rivalry

The in-state rivalry between the University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens and Delaware State University Hornets began in 2007. The Fightin’ Blue Hens have won the First State Cup all all 7 meetings between the two schools. Every game that the two teams have played against each other has taken place at Delaware Stadium, home of the Fightin’ Blue Hens.


The Approaching Storm

The DSU band performs before kickoff, at halftime and post-game. It is comprised of both dancers and musicians. The musical group pumps up and entertains fans with their energy and talent that is highlighted at every game. This group has also been the guest to perform in popular parades, such as the London New Year’s Day parade. They have also been invited to perform at NFL games.


Hornets/ Bison Rivalry

The oldest rival of Delaware State University Hornets is the Howard University Bison. The two schools have played 73 times over the years, 59 of these being consecutive years.
